Haverstraw African-American Connection will celebrate Juneteenth with a festival on Clinton St featuring entertainment, food and vendors. Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the US. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that Major General Gordon Granger landed in Galveston, Texas with the news that the enslaved were free.
